What is it?

This treatment involves the use of an implant with a denture attached to the top, which allows us to replace multiple teeth instead of just one. This can be a great help if you are struggling with tooth loss, and are looking for a fresh new smile.

What will happen?

Consultation

Before we go ahead with the treatment, we will first need to have a consultation appointment with you. There are a few reasons why having a consultation with us is so important, one being that it allows us to ensure that you are eligible. The main thing that we will focus on for eligibility is whether you have enough bone left in the selected area to support the dental implants in Melbourne. If you don’t, this means that the implant can weaken and it won’t be able to support the denture.

Another reason why we have a consultation with you beforehand is to examine your teeth and take scans, because as well as checking for eligibility, it allows us to plan out where we will insert the dental implants in Melbourne and how the dentures will look. At our practice, we use state-of-the-art technology such as CT scanners to get a clear and deep look at your teeth and jaws.

Surgical appointment

Once we have had a consultation with you and you are ready to go ahead, we will book you in for a surgical appointment. When you come in for this appointment, our team will make sure you feel as comfortable and welcome as possible throughout the whole process.

First we will begin by inserting the implant into your jaw. We would have planned out its location ready for the appointment, to help with efficiency. Once we have inserted the implant, we will let it heal for around 6 months, as this allows time for your bone to heal and fuse around the implant, creating a strong foundation for your dentures.

The dentures used in the multiple implants treatment can replace up to four teeth, and we can provide you with a few of them if you want to really transform your smile. Your dentures will be custom made to match your other teeth as closely as possible.

Taking care of your new teeth

Once you have had your dental implants in Melbourne and dentures put in, we recommend that you have a follow-up appointment with us a few weeks afterwards to make sure everything has gone as it should. In terms of looking after your dentures, they act just like your natural teeth, meaning that you clean them like your natural teeth too. As long as you keep up a good oral hygiene routine of flossing and brushing, your new teeth can last a very long time!
